Studying under Challenging Circumstances

Studying as a parent

Coordinating child-rearing, household duties and your studies at the university all at the same time requires a lot of strength and good planning. However,  there are means of relief for students with children, such as day-nurseries and kindergartens. Detailed information can be found on our homepage in the sections Child Care and Studying as a Parent. Consider seeking out other students who also have children as soon as possible after you arrive. It is easier to bridge short term gaps in child care if you are in a group and that can take turns in helping out.

Studying with a Disability

Of course it is possible for individuals with disabilities or chronic diseases to take up a course of study in Osnabrück. The residence halls of the Studentenwerk  include a number of barrier-free accommodations.  Nevertheless, many daily routines still require more time and effort for individuals with disabilities. Special information for international students with a disability is available through the internet portal "International Students" on the website of the Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW), under Students with Disabilities:
