In Germany there is a form of state-sponsored student aid called BAföG (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz). This financial aid, which helps to cover students’ living and educational costs, is designed to enable young people to receive an education that meets their strengths and interests. The criteria that need to be fulfilled in order to be eligible for this kind of financial aid from the state are outlined in the paragraphs of the BAföG law.
The local Studentenwerke (Student Services) are responsible for processing university students’ applications for financial aid. The Studentenwerk Osnabrück is responsible for students at the University of Osnabrück, the University of Vechta, the Hochschule Osnabrück (including the Lingen campus), as well as the Private Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft und Technik Diepholz.
Further information about BAföG and information about other options for financing your university education is available on our German websites.
