Student Services Osnabrück is starting MENSA TO GO in the refectory in the Mensa Schlossgarten (on 4 May) and Mensa Westerberg (on 11 May). Students and university staff can order their lunch with the new SWOSY app and also choose a time to pick it up the following day.

The menu promises tempting dishes. In the first week, for example, you can order a Good Life Bowl with chicken saté or with falafel. Or how about lasagne macinata with tomato and leek sauce or tofu cubes with oyster mushrooms on herb rice?

Special measures are taken to protect everyone’s health. To start with, the app offers pick-up times between 11:40 and 14:10 when you order. The user then chooses a time. This ensures that a maximum number of 15 people enter the refectory at a time to pick up their orders and that the required minimum distance of 1.5 metres can be maintained.

Upon arrival, guests are guided through the refectory and admission is only possible with the prescribed face protection. "The customer does not come into direct contact with anyone," says Stefan Kobilke, managing director of Osnabrück’s Student Services.

"It also goes without saying that the high standard of hygiene for the kitchen teams is maintained at all times through masks, additional intermediate disinfection and adherence to the distance rule of 1.5 metres," says Theo Thöle, head of catering.

As a further precautionary measure, Student Services will only accept cashless payments with the CampusCard. This is taking immediate effect and will be continued in future. Guests can top up their cards on site at the top-up machines placed in the refectories’ entry halls.

"If MENSA TO GO is well received by our guests, we will use it to expand our service in future," adds Stefan Kobilke.

SWOSY is a free software package programmed by the students Nils Baumgartner and Johann Arndt. The app works on Android and iOS and can be downloaded via Google Play and Apple Store.
